Everyone knows I love me some mixtapes. Half my iTunes selection is mixtapes and remixes, I can’t get enough. Well here is one that everyone will love. It’s Kanye’s Power remix by Swizz Beatz feat. Jay-Z. Hova kills it on this one and then Yeezy decides to show why everyone loved him in the first place. It’s a great track. Check it out.

I was passed a link to Fuel TV’s new spots and I love them. First, I love Fuel TV’s logo anyway. Every time I’m at Wahoo’s Fish Taco’s in town they have the action sports channel on and I can’t turn away, sometimes watching too long! These are a great way to showcase what a brand is about in a very creative way. Check out the video below and you can click here to watch the others as well.

Anyone that really knows me knows I love hip-hop and have a mean shoe fetish. Well tonight it’s going down. A great local artist will be celebrating the release of his latest EP “Robot Radio” tonight at Beauty Bar. Knuckle Rumbler Presents: The Robot Parade. I was turned on to Zeale by one of my very best friends Bryan probably 3 or 4 years ago and was instantly hooked. He’s a great lyricist with a unique sound and knows how to command a stage. From watching him freestyle in Barcelona (the club, not the city), to the infamous Tuesday nights at Lucky Lounge when he played with Boombox, this kid has killed the stage every chance he gets.
But don’t sleep on him like he’s just another local rapper. Zeale’s been recognized by many industry greats and has opened for the likes of Lil Wayne, KRS-One and Jason Mraz. But don’t take my word for it. Check out a live performance of one of his new songs he did on the Bobby Bones show.
Also you can download his EP “Robot Radio” along with a previous mixtape “Haterz and Robotz” — You won’t regret it.
Cosponsoring this event is another fellow sneakerhead and local retailer Sneak Attack. Aside from offering the latest kicks and urban fashion, Sneak Attack offers another unique feature. If you purchase shoes from them, they won’t sell that same shoe to anyone else for the next 30 days. When you get your new kicks, you can be sure no one else in Austin is biting your style.
All that said, I know where I’ll be tonight. Where will you be? You can RSVP on Do512 here.
Look, I like to consider myself an environmentalist. I try to make conscious decisions that positively (or at least reduce the negative) effect the environment. But this is too much.
Aston Martin, known for speed and big V12, gas guzzling, road chewing, and vision blurring engines. These super luxurious fine leather wrapped vehicles are the envy of many and can make your heart stop as you watch one drive by. Beautiful. But now, trying to Aston Martin has a concept for a commuter car similar to the Smart Car, called the Cygnet. I can only guess the market is for Hollywood elite who want to pretend to be environmentally conscious.
That’s too much for me.
Instead, I’d rather have one of these babies. With a 7.8 litre V12 engine, this thing has some power. And with only 77 hand build models with a price tag of £1.25 million ($ 1,800,000) only a few will be able to own a piece of elegance.
I’m incredibly afraid of failure. However, I’ve failed enough to not let that fear intimidate me. Here is a great video that a friend of mine shared with me that symbolizes that exact philosophy. Check it out.
Nike always has a great products and even better ad campaigns. Their commercials and campaigns don’t sell products, they raise brand awareness and promote “the check.” Lately, they don’t ever say “Nike” only display the swoosh logo at the end. (See Tiger Wood’s New Nike Commercial) It’s great. Having worked on several Nike projects and seeing how the machine works, I would equate it to looking in the kitchen of a fine restaurant. You learn a little bit about some great practices, but it eliminates the aura and mystic of the fine experience.
Now Nike has approached Mr. Cartoon, tattoo and graffiti artist, as a designer for the USA True Colors sportswear collection. Check out the video below with Mr. Cartoon talking about inspiration for the logo and mascot he created. Nike Sportswear will be holding events to launch the collection in New York, Boston, and Chicago next week. Come out to see the collection and Mister Cartoon in action.
New York – Nike Sportswear @ 21 Mercer, April 27th at 8-11pm
Boston – Bodega Gallery, April 29th at 7p-11pm
Chicago – Six Points, May 1st at 7-11pm
Two of the major networks, Fox and ABC, are being accused of a double standard by plus-size retailer Lane Bryant. While every other show and commercial on each of these networks has scantily clad women running around in lingerie, this commercial featuring plus-size models, apparently, crosses the line. I personally don’t see it. Check out the video below to make your own opinions, but I can’t distinguish anything more obscene or vulgar than any Desperate Housewives or Victoria’s Secret commercial. There are a lot of things on TV which I don’t feel today’s kids should see, but I don’t understand the double standard here. If one is fine, why not the other? Fox? ABC?
And just for reference, here’s a Victoria’s Secret commercial that was premiered on Fox during the lingerie label’s fashion show and later shown on the other networks. You be the judge:
